Your Own Apartment Accomodation In Barcelona

If you want to plan a relaxed holiday in Barcelona, Spain, but are nervous about the hotel choice, how about trying an apartment instead? Apartments are available that are perfect for a couple, a family, or a group of friends vacationing together. Besides the variety in sizes of apartments available, there is also a great variety in the type of accomodations, from the simple low budget option to an apartment that has all the amenities of a four star hotel. Of course, the more luxurious the apartment, the more expensive it will be. Whether you want luxury at any cost, or you want to keep your vacation expenses low, you can find the right apartment. Different locations are also available, and you can stay right in the center of town, near all the tourist sites, or by the port where you can enjoy the view, or perhaps you prefer a quiet neighborhood the outskirts of town. If you rented a car, you could choose any one of these kinds of locales to stay in.

One of the most important advantages of an apartment rental is the space it offers to each one staying there. You don’t have to be crowded in one hotel room, but each person can have a little space to spread out in. In addition, the apartments offer one full and one half bath, so there is no waiting for the bathroom like there is in a hotel room. Ample closet room and drawer space also make life easier for vacationers sharing a space. There is a wide variety of bedroom layouts, so you can have double beds, single beds, bunk beds and sofa beds to accomodate as many people as you need to. No worries about making the dining room on time for breakfast, since each person can make his own when he gets up in the convenient kitchen. Vacation apartments in Barcelona are completely equipped with kitchen appliances and all the utensils you will need. Whether you want to make a complete meal, or just have a quick snack without having to run out to a restaurant, the choice is yours. A typical Barcelona experience can be had by breakfasting on the terrace (Barcelona weather is warm year round). The traditional breakfast is a fritter with a cup of hot chocolate, so go native and enjoy this simple breakfast. For a good wakeup, however, you may want to have a pastry with a cup of strong Spanish coffee. And for the hearty eaters, a Spanish omelet will satisfy the appetite. The really wonderful thing is that you can enjoy all of these things without paying expensive restaurant prices, and without even getting out of your pajamas!

Especially in the beginning of your stay, you may want to eat at home until you find out where the good places to eat or visit are located. If you see a pretty park or scenic area, you can pack a picnic in your apartment and bring it along with you for your day trip. Or you have the option of picking up prepared foods at one of the many wonderful delicatessans and supermarkets Barcelona has to offer.

Before the advent of the computer and the internet, renting an apartment was not an easy task, and involved a lot of paperwork. But now, you can just email one of the agents specializing in short term or holiday apartment rentals and have your pick of aprtment to suit your needs. And apartment rentals are not just available in Barcelona. You can go to other areas in Spain and have the same convenience. How about a visit to the Costa Brava in Sitges? Carnival is an especially wonderful time to rent an apartment here. If you drive into the mountains, you can choose an apartment in the countryside of Girona or Figueres. Another option is to visit the Dali museum and then drive on to the foothills of the Pyrennes. There you can rent a lovely rustic apartment and enjoy the mountains. There are also ski resorts that offer apartments and you can indulge in your winter sports and then relax in your apartment afterwards. If you don’t look forward to breaking a leg skiing, you can just take a walk in the countryside.

All of this is available to you, and since you’ll save money on lodging by renting an apartment, you can do a lot of other things.

Do Your Travel Research Australia Is Big

Are your travel plans realistic? Can you travel the distance you want in a day? Australia is a big country, just how big, find out here.

I remember years ago I was holidaying in California. And being from Australia you get many questions and everyone is always intrigued by your accent.

Anyway, I started a conversation with this twenty something lady and she was telling me she was going to visit Australia next year.

Her plan was to fly to Sydney, stay for two weeks and take day trips from there. Which sounds like a fabulous plan.

There are heaps of things to see and do around Sydney for day trips. Sydney has a fantastic zoo and aquarium. The Blue Mountains with walks and scenic look outs is a day trip. In the other direction is the Southern Highlands with more scenic points.

Visit famous Bondi Beach and other beaches near Sydney, take in a few National Parks. Oh and I nearly forgot, visit the Opera House and climb the harbor bridge. Well the list goes on and there are more than enough things to see in and around Sydney to keep you busy for more than a fortnight.

But no. Her plan was to stay in Sydney and take day trips to Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef.

I looked at her and asked her again what are your plans?. And Yes sure enough she planned to stay in Sydney and drive to The Great Barrier Reef and Uluru for day trips.

But that is impossible I said, and informed her that Australia is almost the same size as the United States. No matter what I said, she would not believe me If you dont believe me then go and look at this map http://www.ga.gov.au/education/facts/dimensions/compare.htm.

Australia is the sixth largest country and the largest island in the world.

From Sydney to Uluru is 2,795km that is 1,735 miles and from Sydney to Mackay (middle area of the Reef) it is 1,715km about 1065 miles.

At least one thousand miles one way. There is no physical way this trip can be done.

Even flying from Sydney to The Great Barrier Reef is at a minimum 4 hours one way flying time. And the Great Barrier Reef itself takes up an area half the size of Texas.

Now, I have not told you this to put you off coming to visit Australia. Far from it. But just come informed. Enjoy your trip, visit the Great Barrier Reef and Uluru and Sydney they are all interesting and worthy of your time.

And when you visit, well say Gday Mate.
Happy Traveling

5 Days In Amsterdam

All was still. Around one hundred people had settled in the rest room for the overnight ferry crossing from Hull to Holland. It was pitch black and the only sounds were the faint humming of the engines and the odd snorer.

All the seats had been snapped up so I found myself lying in a vacant space on the floor with a couple of mates trying to get comfortable. About five minutes had passed and I could feel myself about to drop off.

You could hear a pin drop. Then my mate farted. It began as a kind of muffled snort and developed into a full crescendo. The whole process must have taken at least five seconds. I struggled for a moment, trying to contain my laughter. Eventually I had to leave the room, quickly followed by my two mates.

After docking in Holland we were ushered onto a waiting coach for the one-hour drive to Amsterdam. The landscape was full of all the quintessential things that make Holland so unique.

Windmills were liberally scattered throughout the land. Wonderful white structures whose arms spun endlessly in the wind. The undramatic flat countryside seemed to stretch forever. In fact, over a third of Holland lies below sea level.

The coach dropped us off in the heart of Amsterdam, deep amongst the network of canals that divide this old city into a million different pieces. We found ourselves stood outside the central train station debating our accommodation options. We had decided beforehand to wait until our arrival until finding a hotel.

Just as we were getting anxious, a middle-aged woman approached us. She walked with a swagger and wore an air of confidence.

Are you lads looking for a room? she asked in broken English.

Yes, we all replied simultaneously. We sensed a solution to our predicament was imminent.

I have a bed and breakfast not far from here, just two stops on the underground. Would you like a room?

The hotel was reasonable enough. A twenty-minute walk and we were back in town with all the other tourists, walking round in circles trying to get a bearing.

Amsterdam is a truly surreal place. Legalising cannabis has certainly raised an eyebrow from the rest of the world and is regarded with a certain fascination. As we sampled the local delicacy, one day pretty much blended into another like some sort of hazy dream. Before we knew it we were back home contemplating a quite bizarre vacation.

Stay Healthy And Fit On Your Next Vacation!

Most vacations will derail your exercise and diet program faster than you can say eat-all-you-can hotel buffet. You want to relax, have fun, indulge. You dont want to think about calories or getting enough cardio. You dont want to think, period.

So you spend hours lounging on the beach, feasting on pina coladas or chips. However, the low activity and high fat and sugar diet not only packs on the pounds, but can make you feel sluggish and tired. Thats why so many people return from a vacation feeling anything but refreshed.

So how can you stay fit and still have fun during your vacation? No need to squeeze your Pilates DVD into your luggagejust take a trip that incorporates a lot of physical activity in a fun way!

For example, in Sonoma County, there are nature trails where both beginners and experienced hikers can spend hours exploring one of the most beautiful forests in the world. Youll barely notice your cardio workout as you walk under the boughs of century-old trees, or navigate up a hill to get a breathtaking view of the vineyards below. Its fun, but its healthy tooand who knows, when you get back, youll feel inspired to hike regularly. (Its so much more scenic than 30 minutes on a treadmill.)

Avoid the high-sugar dessert buffets and fat-laden burgers. A trip to the countryside is a great opportunity to eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Sonoma Countys farm trail, for example, takes you through some of the most abundant agricultural centers in the country. After seeing the animals or learning about the different food manufacturing processes, you can buy organic produce picked just hours before. After youve tasted some of that food, youll never want to eat another oily pizza again.

Or, you can combine both outdoor activity and great food by having a picnic in one of Sonoma Countys many parks and reserves. The Redwoods, an 805-acre park, has many benches and barbecue grills. Work up an appetite while playing with your kids under the shade of its ancient Redwoods. Dine al fresco, under the Californias famous blue skies. You can also visit the Fort Ross State Park, or the Muir Woods.

The point is that you dont have to stay in bed the whole day to rest and relax. Why not take a walk in a serene forest to clear your head of the pressures at work? Or talk with your kids or spouse as you explore the different trails, your conversation uninterrupted by TV or the cell phone.

All it takes is to find a place with attractions that encourage fun physical activity, like Sonoma County. Be sure to schedule your trip during months when the weather is sunny but cool, pack comfortable shoes and clothes, and protect your skin from the elements with a strong sun block and a big, floppy hat. (Hey, youre touristsyoure supposed to look a little silly.)

You can also ask your travel agent to point you towards hiking tours or nature reserves, and provide you with maps of the area. Have a funand fitvacation!

Travel and Scenic Photography 101

When you are driving through the mountains somewhere, & you notice a automobile parked half off the road & some guy leaning to the left to avoid a branch with his Rebel 2000 camera in the act of focusing, you have met me. I do this because, to me, a trip isn’t fulfilling unless i have preserved that beauty for posterity. I’d like to share a quantity of the techniques that make scenic photography such a wonderful artform – simple, yet elegant.

First off, equipment. As much as the cheapo disposable camera beckons, get real. These cameras have fisheye lenses which I call “spam” lenses. we cram everything in, with equal blurriness & boringness. nice photos are sharp, unless you use blur for artistic effect. Sharp comes from an adjustable lens. It can be a fixed lens or a zoom, but it must focus specially for each picture. Fixed lenses are limiting for scenic pics, where to frame the shot you may require to move long distances. Imagine using a fixed lens on the Washington Monument, when you are half a block away! Zooms get my vote, even though we often don’t have as wide an aperture, which limits their capabilities in low light situations.

Practically speaking, an SLR is the absolute best. we are lightweight, & can be used with top quality lenses. Film SLRs tend to be less expensive, but have the limitations of film, meaning you have to get it developed & so forth. Digital SLRs are VERY expensive, so for the budget conscious either go with a film SLR or a high quality basic digital camera. With digital, resolution is also a critical factor, so look at the specs before you buy.

OK, we have got the camera, emotions are jogging high, & that’s great, but not great! sometimes I find a spot that’s so wonderful, I start shooting like a madman, only to be disappointed by the pics. What happened? Emotions. When you experience a place, there are sounds, aromas & breezes as well as the visuals of the spot. Needless to say, you cannot photograph all of these elements, only the visual. When overwhelmed by the spectacle of a scenic hotspot, we are often overwhelmed by all of these elements.

Now, I was a tad dishonest in saying that you cannot capture all of the elements of a scene. You can hint at them. For starters, motion. Yes, even in a still picture, there’s motion. Something happened before, during & after your picture. In a mountain vista scene, you may find something that hints at motion, whether it be a branch of a tree that has been swaying in the breeze, or a river flowing through the valley below. These add a sense of motion.

So what to do? Look through your camera. The viewfinder does not lie (usually). Try to see what you are looking at as the finished picture. Most people perfunctorily take pics, hoping that somehow the shot will come out great. If you wonder how the pics came out when you are on the way to the drugstore to get them, you are doing something wrong. At the moment you click the pic, you should know exactly what you will get. (Of work with digital, that’s not a trick!).

Then there’s the “rule of thirds.” When you place the main object of the picture smack-dab in the middle, it is static & boring. Place it one third of the way from either side, & you IMPLY motion. Put the horizon in a landscape photo a third of the way up or down, not across the middle.

Remember, when a person looks at a picture, their eyes move. You require to frame your photo to help that movement. If you can find some lines in the scene, such as a skyline, cloud formation, path through the forest, etcetera, use it interestingly, & with the rule of thirds to draw your viewer’s eyes into the picture.

Avoid “summit syndrome.” You get to the top of Mount Washington & shoot the majestic vista. Great. The pics come out .. boring! How? No PERSPECTIVE. Big vistas will be flat unless you have an object in the foreground, such as a rock or a tree, to give them perspective. Then the eye grasps how big this scene is. People enjoying the view is a real winner, because the viewer may identify with their emotions, giving the image real impact.

Cheese! Yes, you do have to take the family photos. it is obligatory. But when you do, make sure that we show the location of the photo. Otherwise, you might as well do it on your driveway. Frame the scene in context, with landmarks as part of the picture. Find a way to tell as story in the picture, such as little Sara climbing up the rocks by the waterfall.

Finally, any element in the picture that hints at more senses than the visual will make it remarkable. Actor headshots for example, tell a story about the subject. You can hear them saying their next lines. If you photograph a garden, the viewer may experience the aroma of the flowers. A tourist street with an accordion player on the corner may have your amazed friends whistling “Dixie.”

In summation, picture taking on travel is recording the experience in a satisfying way. Use motion, perspective, sensory, storytelling & so forth, to bring your photos to life. Oh, & needless to say, make your job easy & go to great places! See you at the overlook!
